Maxine Peacock

Maxine Marion Louise "Max" Peacock (née Heavey) was a fictional character played by Tracy Shaw on the soap opera Coronation Street.

Early Life

Maxine Heavey entered the series in the 1990s as Fiona Middleton's friend from collage, working in Denise Osborne's salon. She was very much a good-time girl, and had relationships, often one-night-stands, with several of the male characters, including Steve McDonald (to get back at Fiona as he was Fiona's ex) and Curly Watts (when she was drunk). She was bridesmaid at Fiona's wedding to Alan Mckenna which ended in tragedy.

Marraige to Ashley

Seeking security, she married Ashley Peacock in 1999. She was happy with her marraige until she found out Ashley was having an affair with Suellen Smith: a regular at the salon in 2000, but it turned out not to be true.

Dirty with the Doctor

She had trouble becoming pregnant by Ashley. On the night that he had surgery to assist with this problem, Maxine had sex with local doctor Matt Ramsden, becoming pregnated by the doctor.

Joshua

She gave birth to Josh, but Max did not know if the father was Ashley or Matt. Josh tuned out to be Matt's but Max signed Ashley's name on the birth certifacate and burned the D.N.A test results. A week late, Maxine told Ashley the apparant truth of Joah's parentage, and she ran away with Josh but returned in October that year and Ashley accepted Josh as his own son.

Max's Fate

Max was murdered by Richard Hillman after he broke into her house on the night when Emily Bishop was babysitting Josh when she was at a double birthday for Todd Grimshaw and Max's mum Doreen at The Rovers Return she returned home early to witness Richard hit Emily over the head with a crowbar and her final word's where to Richard "What are you doing?" which he replied "You should have stayed at the party Maxine" then she screamed when Josh started crying and tried to run upstairs but he hit her over the head with the crowbar. After her death, Ashley had a DNA test to see whether Joshua was, in fact, his son, resulting in a distraught Mr Peacock when the results were revealed.
