Max Noether (September 24 1844 - December 13 1921) was a German mathematician. He worked on algebraic geometry and the theory of algebraic functions. He was the father of Emmy Noether and of Fritz Noether; Edmund Landau declined to describe her as the daughter of Max Noether; but rather stated, "Max Noether was the father of Emmy Noether. Emmy is the origin of coordinates in the Noether family."
