Matthiola (syn. Mathiola R.Br.) or stock is a genus of flowering plant. It is named after Pietro Andrea Mattioli. A cool season annual. Flowers are singles or doubles in a wide array of colors and are very sweet smelling. They are often used in bouquets of cut flowers. This genus contains approximately 50 species, generally from Eurasia, although the two most common species in cultivation are M. incana and M. longipetala.
