Mark Edward Pope (born September 11 1972 in Omaha, Nebraska) is a former professional basketball player in the NBA. He played for the Indiana Pacers, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Denver Nuggets and enjoyed his best season in 2000-2001 when he averaged 2.1 points per game for the Bucks. Pope was a second round pick of the Pacers in the 1996 NBA Draft after his college career, first at the University of Washington and then at the University of Kentucky. Pope earned All Pacific-10 freshman honors and was also a member of Kentucky's 1996 NCAA Men's Basketball Champion team. The last year of his career was the 2004-05 season as he was cut in training camp with the Nuggets the following season. In 2006, he enrolled in medical school at Columbia University. He and his wife Lee Anne, a former assistant to David Letterman, have three daughters. They met when he picked up tickets to the Late Show with David Letterman that he obtained through her brother.[1]
