Mariposa Beach is an unincorporated settlement in the Canadian province of Ontario near Orillia in Ramara Township. It no longer appears on the standard provincial highway maps. Stephen Leacock’s Mariposa, a fictionalized version of Orillia from Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town, and the Mariposa Folk Festival named after the latter, have completely supplanted the original meaning of what was a real place.
