Manu Narayan, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, currently lives in New York City is an accomplished American stage, television, and film actor and the lead singer of the band D A R U N A M.

Biography

His vocal accomplishments range from singing with Cyndi Lauper and The Band’s Garth Hudson to performing for dignitaries that include Queen Elizabeth II, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, and President George W. Bush. Manu can be heard on the album A Night in the Old Marketplace, songs by The Klezmatics' Frank London, released in 2007 by Soundbrush Records. He has co-written and recorded the single Help Me to Find for the film Hiding Divya starring Madhur Jaffrey as well as recorded with D A R U N A M band mate Radovan Jovicevic the single "Have Me" for the upcoming film And Then Came Love starring Vanessa Williams. As an actor, Manu is most widely known for originating the “hero” Akaash in the hit Andrew Lloyd Webber/A.R. Rahman musical Bombay Dreams on Broadway for which he garnered a New York Drama league nomination. He has done numerous shows on stage and is now branching out into Film and Television. Most recently on TV he guest stars in the upcoming Cashmere Mafia pilot produced by Darren Star and on the M.O.N.Y pilot, directed by Spike Lee and produced by Tom Fontana. Manu is an award winning classical saxophonist both in the western style - he has performed the Glazunov Saxophone Concerto with orchestra at Carnegie Hall, Pittsburgh- and in the South Indian Carnatic style - he won the All India Radio music competition in Mangalore, India. He is the Carnatic saxophone student of Sri Kadri Gopalnath and is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University
