Luise Brunner was one of only two women to have ever reached the rank of Chief Senior Overseer (Chef Oberaufseherin), a high-ranking officer designation for SS guards in concentration camps. She was among several dozen women who guarded Auschwitz-Birkenau camps. After the war, she was sentenced to three years in prison as a result of the Ravensbrück Trials.
