Lorne Cardinal is a stage and television actor, best known as a cast member of the Canadian television series Corner Gas, in which he portrays police officer Davis Quinton. He has also had various other roles in theatre, film and television, some of which include Insomnia, renegadepress.com, in which he acted and directed, and Thunderstick, which he directed. Some of the awards and nominations he has received for his work include a 2005 University of Alberta Alumni Horizon Award, a 2004 Gemini Award nomination for Best Ensemble Performance in a Comedy Program or Series (for Corner Gas) and a 1995 First Americans in the Arts nomination, Best Supporting Actor (for Tecumseh: The Last Warrior). Cardinal is also a rugby union enthusiast. He played for the Strathcona Druids, becoming the first Aboriginal person to play for the team. He can be seen wearing Prairie Fire rugby team merchandise on Corner Gas. He's also been seen attending Prairie Fire home games at Regina Rugby Park. In 2007 he went to CTV and secured the name rights for the Dog River Howlers, a touring rugby side and part of fund raising initiative for Canadian rugby players. He also enjoys playing golf. Of Cree descent, he is also noted for playing First Nations roles in many productions, including Tecumseh in Canada: A People's History.
