Chris MacClean

Chris Maclean (Voiced by Christian Potenza) is The Host. Chris MacClean is the host of Total Drama Island; who speaks with a "skater" accent. In most of the challenges, he enjoys watching the contestants suffer. His talents include speaking, and skating. He was once in a figure skating contest and won (as told by contestant Trent on the first episode). He has an apparent strong dislike to Izzy; mainly due to her having slept on his doorstep for two weeks before he allowed her to come to the island. He currently has a restraining order against her, set for two miles. Chris enjoys sentencing the campers to cruel and unruly punishments. French Name: Louis.

Screaming Gophers

Beth - The Wannabe

Beth (voice of Sarah Gadon) is The Wannabe. Beth was the ninth voted off. Beth is a sweet, geeky-looking girl who desperately seeks popularity. She is talented with fire batons (however, she can’t catch them). She dislikes shy boys and fears monsters under her bed.^[1] Beth joined TDI to meet some boys who share similar interests with her, such as chickens. At her school, Beth tries to make friends but constantly makes a fool of herself in front of everyone. Heather coaxed Beth into an alliance by saying that she, Beth and Lindsay will make it into the final three if they join her,^[2] but she quit the alliance after Heather's bossy attitude.^[3] In "Up The Creek", Beth did not hear Chris’s instructions to take nothing from Boney Island otherwise they would be cursed. At the Island, Jeena took a Tiki Wood carving off a bush.^[4] After the curse breaks her alliance with Heather, she befriends Leshawna. It is implied that she may have developed a crush on Cody, due to her giving him a kiss before she pushed him off the Dock of Shame.^[3] After her curse eliminates two Gophers (Joana and Brady), she was the ninth voted off (thus having the curse eliminate herself) then says she'll return it but in another episode ("Trial by Tri-Armed Triathalon") Beth actually doesn't. ^[5] Her swimsuit was modelled on the uniforms from Star Trek.^[6] Audition: In her audition tape, she attempts to sing pop, but is off-key. Then her mother tells her to stop the noise, while she says she will be a star.

Cody - The Geek

Cody (voice of Peter Oldring) is The Geek. Cody was the eighth voted off.

Cody enjoys technology, and has established himself as a nerd with the other campers. an unbalanced hypoglycemic index in his diet, and fears having to disarm a time bomb under pressure.^[1] Cody joined TDI so he can “swing” with the cool kids. He is known for being self-delusional, as shown when he repeatedly attempts to woo Gwen.^[4] He had a crush on Gwen, but was shoved aside so that she could be with Trent, a repeatedly running gag through the series. Cody's pastimes include going to the mall and observing "cool kids'" behavior. He had once made a bet with Owen that if he managed to get Gwen's bra, then Owen would do all the dishes ("Up The Creek"). After being attacked by a bear, the team felt he was very useless so they had voted him off. Cody left the Island with his wish granted: to be cool.^[3] He is seen at the Resort of Losers out of his body cast, attempting to get a tan, but only sunburning himself. His favourite kind of chips are barbecue. Cody is one of the few people loyal to Gwen at the end mainly from his crush. Audition: In his audition tape, he attempts to perform a rap while he plays the keyboard, but his father tells him to be quiet, while he also says the world will some day know him. He tries to say that he'll be bigger than a celebrity, but the camera runs out of film before he can finish.

Gwen - The Loner

Gwen (voice of Megan Fahlenbock) is The Loner. She was the final person voted off. Gwen likes spending time alone with her sketch pad. She dislikes locks and lighters. She is known for being very close to sketch pads. Gwen joined TDI because the money would make life a lot easier for her mother. By choice, she is the loner of her school. Before Total Drama Island, she and her brother would put hot sauce in the port-a-pottys of Meadows High. Gwen joined TDI just for the amusement of her family, but was not certain they would choose her. Gwen can be downright snide and cheesey, she can come across as embarreseed and fun, but at the same time will be opinionistic and hypocritical. Heather and Gwen have pranked each other numerous times, but has still not been able to get Heather as bad as she gets her. Gwen fears being buried alive.^[1] After Heather reads her diary out to the whole viewing world, she releases Harold's fire ant farm in Heather's bed, which caused Heather to be sent to the Infirmitry scathed with stings .^[7] The diary reveals she harbours a crush on Trent, however she furiously dumped him after he left her side in "Phobia Factor".^[1] They return as a couple seven episodes later ("No Pain, No Game"). However, Heather ends up breaking them up by making Trent meet her at the Dock of Shame and tells him lies about Gwen, then kisses him when Gwen shows up.^[8] However, they make up minutes before he was voted off. Gwen's best friends on the island are Bridgette and Leshawna. Geoff promised to take Gwen to her first party. Gwen was upset when Geoff left and she says he is the nicest guy.^[9] It may be possible that Gwen will be eliminated since the other couples (Duncan and Courtney, Bridgette and Geoff) were eliminated. Gwen is the only girl left on the island. She and Owen formed an alliance which eliminated Heather. She "dislikes" Trent for kissing Heather until the end, where they make up. Gwen came in second despite, according to Teletoon's TDI website, the fact that she was the favorite to win. The original character designs show Gwen as a redhead, wearing a brown tshirt and blue jeans.^[10][11] French Name: Joelle.

Heather - The Queen Bee

Heather (voice of Rachel Wilson) is The Queen Bee. She was the twenty-third voted off. Heather enjoys talking about her popularity, or her appearance, and although she is pretty, she's mean and bossy and is generally disliked by the other characters. She has been saved of being voted off in various devious means as well as winning many challenges for invincibility. She is known for her disdain for others and for being the center of attention. Heather joined TDI because she believed that it would provide highly adequate training for carrying out her long term goal of ruling Europe. Her fear is sumo wrestlers.^[1] She intends to win the competition via dirty tricks, cheating, manipulation, deceit, and sabotage. Mark Thornton describes her as "an evil, scheming, sinister cow of a character".^[12] She first forms an alliance with Beth and Lindsay to get to the final three, using Lindsay for stupidity and Beth for her popularity desire (Beth later quit the alliance after Heather's behavior). She first bribes everyone on her team to vote Justin "McGorgeousness" off instead of her.^[7] She has an extreme distaste for Gwen, which begins in "Phobia Factor" after she reads out Gwen's diary, revealing Gwen's infatuation.^[1] In "X-Treme Torture", she becomes embarrassed after driving a sea-doo and while attempting to cut the rope Harold was holding onto, a tree branch snagged her top and Heather remained completely topless (to Harold's fantasy).^[13] Duncan reveals he thinks Heather did something to eliminate Courtney.^[14] In "Search And Do Not Destroy", Heather gets Izzy to join the alliance with herself and Lindsay. Heather later ends up in a short alliance with Duncan. She then spots Gwen and Trent kissing, where she forms a plan to get one of them voted out, so she gets Trent to turn on Gwen and vice-versa. In the end, Heather won invincibility and the group voted out Trent, meaning her plan worked.^[8] In "That's Off the Chain!", before leaving, Lindsay finally loses her temper with Heather. Supposedly starting to get along with Gwen.^[15] She was in a weak alliance with Duncan. Heather is actually turning out to be softer by the time and time. Heather was eliminated as she was the only person to forfeit a match. After trying to stop Chef from shaving her head she kicked the razor which landed on her head leaving only remnants of her hair. She threatened to sue Chris for the challenges she went through. She is thought to be the toughest and most strategic player in the game, many of the other campers thought she was a threat and good competition, but didn't agree with her methods. She is quoted by her other campers to "exceed in sports and challenges". Heather has won the most challenges, and immunities than any other camper. She was "cheated" out of the show by Chris, much to the same as Lindsay. When she came back for the final episode she had to wear a wig to cover her bald head. She went on Owen's team as she wanted to get Gwen back via dirty tricks, but they all backfire on her. French Name: Marilou.

Izzy - The Psycho

Izzy (voice of Katie Crown) is The Psycho. Izzy was the seventh and then eighteenth voted off. Izzy is the more psychotic member of the camp, who is soothed by the sounds of horror movie soundtracks (revealed in "Monster Island"). She enjoys fire. She dislikes being rejected by those she stalks. She is known for her insane/stalker personality, and her habit of talking slightly faster than normal human speech. She joined Total Drama Island by camping out on Chris's doorstep, and received a restraining order shortly after. She has a brother that is a mechanic, though he developed a fear of vehicles when he was run over, as well, she revealed her entire family was psychotic. At a family reunion, she remembers her uncle cut off his ear, mirroring Vincent Van Gogh. She first arrives on the Island by smashing her chin on the edge of the Dock of Shame, though she admits she enjoyed it. Izzy was originally put on the Killer Bass team, but she offered to switch with Katie. She fears being up in planes.^[1] In "Up The Creek" it is shown Izzy is an escaped convict wanted by the RCMP. During the marshmallow ceremony, a helicopter shines a searchlight down upon Izzy and says "Izzy! We know you are down there! You are under arrest!" Izzy, realising that her past has caught up with her, proclaims, "You'll never get me alive!" and runs off the island in a fit of maniacal laughter.^[4] Izzy later returns to the competition more bizarre than ever, revealing she didn't leave the island.^[14] She enjoyed having been electrocuted by eels, and a poison ivy mask on her face. She then mysteriously joins Heather's alliance, replacing Beth.^[8] In a clip of Izzy's return to Total Drama Island, it's revealed she had dated Justin, but had stopped as he was "a liar".^[16]. In "Monster Island", she develops a relationship with Owen. She also reveals her IQ being of 188, explaining her insane-personality. It is said that her entire family is insane as well. On episode 19, where they each had to hunt for a randomly-chosen animal, she is supposed to catch a deer. Despite claiming she has excellent aim, she ends up shooting various non-deer animals and people with a tranquilizer gun, resulting having herself being voted off. Izzy is really insane, but when Heather makes fun of her for it, Owen gets upset. Owen is seen kissing a carved Izzy head in the confession stall.^[17] She and Lindsay were the reasons owen won when they lured him to the finish line with Brownies. When Owen won he started to hug and kiss her. Audition: In her audition tape, she lists a few of her good qualities (being loyal, and smart) then tries to twirl a fire baton, but sets off the sprinklers.

Justin - The Eye Candy

Justin(voice of Adam Reid) is The Eye Candy. Justin was the fourth voted off. Justin likes gorgeous objects, or anything that matches him in terms of looks. He dislikes anything that is unsightly. He is known for his good looks and killer charm. Justin joined TDI so he can donate his winnings to the “Unattractive-Looking People Wish Foundation”. Justin is a very handsome guy, has large washboard abs that he takes particular pride in, and is a highly accomplished and very successful male model. He was the fourth voted off, due to Heather.He apparently became a mute since he never talked since the first episode on which he arrived. She convinced the other campers into voting Justin off instead of her. The Gophers voted Justin off because they found him useless and self-absorbed because he hardly provided any information.^[7] But when Justin was walking down the dock of shame, he didn't even move his lips! At the bonfire ceremony,Chris mentioned that Justin reminded everyone that "Looks matter alot dude. I feel very wrong doing this but, Hotness just wasn't enough tonight. So, you have to walk the dreaded 'DOCK OF SHAME' and catch 'THE BOAT OF LOSERS'. See you Justin." Heather used his hotness to distract Gwen in the final episode but unfortunally Owen was distracted by it as well. Izzy's return clip on the Teletoon Total Drama Island website reveals he had become a model, and had dated Izzy, but then broke up for "[being] a liar" but no one knows if it's true.^[18] Audition: His audition tape has a man saying his name over and over in the background, while he sits on the beach, looking hot.
French Name: Justin

Leshawna - The Sister With 'Tude

Leshawna (voice of Novie Edwards) is The Sister With 'Tude. Leshawna was the twentieth voted off. Leshawna likes rolling with her girlfriends. She dislikes anyone who gives her attitude. She is known for being outspoken (Harold described her as "real big and loud".).^[19] Leshawna joined TDI to show anyone can win if they give it their all and to be a role model for kids on the street. Leshawna is one “bootylicious shortie”, is a whole lot of attitude into a large package, and is street smart. However, in the woods, she is like a fish out of water. She has a distaste for Heather.^[13] She fears giant spiders. Her Best Friends Are Gwen And Bridgette. ^[1] Leshawna is allergic to pineapples and gets a rash whenever she is close to them.^{[episode needed]} She might have started to like Harold after she realizes that he was sending her the love notes.^[13] Leshawna won the first Individual Immunity, meaning she was safe of the vote.^[14] She also won a brand new shower trailer along with the Immunity but in the next episode it was blown up by Chris after he shot a cannon at it.^[8].Leshawna also won the Immunity in the next episode, along with Heather for being the only camper to not get found by the Chef. A mistake in Teletoon said that she was voted off, and she was next because they were right with Bridgette, DJ and Geoff and they were right again. She was voted off as all of the voted off campers accidentally said her name when they were asked who to vote off at the resort. She was one of the few people who stayed loyal to Gwen in the final episode. French Name: Leshawna.

Lindsay - The Dumb Princess

Lindsay (voice of Stephanie Anne Mills) is The Dumb Princess. Lindsay was the sixteenth voted off. Lindsay enjoys preening and posing at any nearby mirror. She dislikes work and dirt. She is known for being a typical "dumb blond". She joined TDI so she could share her gorgeousness. Lindsay is pretty and known at home for being “Daddy’s Little Girl”, whose Sweet Sixteen cost more than a couple high class homes, and is very rich. She exceeds in water skiing as seen where, she wins the challenge for her team. Lindsay has man strengths, although she does not realize it. Her greatest fear is walking through a mine field in high heels, but also bad haircuts. She briefly dated Tyler but he was voted off.^[1] She was in an alliance with Beth and Heather. It seems after Tyler was voted off she started to get a small crush on Cody in "Up The Creek", after he saved her and Trent from the quicksand.^[4] In "X-Treme Torture", Lindsay finally wins her first challenge, that being water skiing. The reason she won, she quotes, is because "[she] was determined for [the prize] of a golden shower".
In "That's Off the Chain!", she made a bicycle modeled after a horse she asked Santa for Christmas, but never got. Up until "Hide and Be Sneaky", Lindsay considered Heather her "best female friend for life", however, Heather becomes very mean and rude to her causing Lindsay to start to dislike her. Finally, in "That's Off the Chain!", before leaving, Lindsay left, swearing at Heather, much to the cheers of everyone.^[15]
Lindsay has, in the past, had difficulty in remembering contestants names. In total, names she has messed up have been Trent ("Todd"), Duncan ("Doug"), Beth ("Belle"), Gwen ("Greta"), Leshawna ("Lequisha" and "Lefawnda"), Tyler ("Taylor") and Chris ("Kyle" and "Chip", several times). In the episode where Leshawna was voted off, she wanted to kiss Tyler (Taylor) But she didn't know who he was really, therefore resulting in her running around looking. She asked alot of people but didn't find him. She even asked Eva! (She knocked her out.) But it turns out that she was kissing "Taylor" at the start of the episode! Before she left, she said that she would miss Owen the most, prompting him to give her a giant bear hug. Lindsay really got revenge on Heather by giving her the dare to have chef shave all her hair off in the triple dog daring challenge. Because of Lindsay's dare Heather was eliminated. She would have been on Gwen's team at the end of season 1 but when Owen says the party will be on a yacht she goes on his side. She is one reason Owen wins as she holds the fan at first backwards but then moves the fan to the perfect spot, at Owen's nose. Audition: It starts off with her saying that she is pretty and smart and gets along with everyone, even ugly girls. She has every picture of her self in bikinis for every season even for the ones not on the calender. She then says she is "bilanguagal" and she speaks "American" and English.

Noah - The Schemer

Noah (voice of Carter Hayden) is The Schemer. Noah was the third voted off Noah is a self-absorbed, lazy, manipulative person who blends in with the background. He enjoys sitting, lying down, occasionally leaning, and reading. He dislikes physical activity. He is known for "being a freakish child genius". He joined TDI because he wants to apply skills from fantasy-land survival video games to the real world. Ever since childhood, he'd begun examining the nutritional content off bottles. Noah is a child prodigy with IQ readings that are off the charts, but the only numbers Noah is proud of are the high scores on his online video game competitions. He claims his heroes are Newton, Pythagoras, and Kranthor from the game "Kosmic Kaos". While not remotely coordinated or athletic, Noah is able to come up with remarkable theories why he should sit something out; he used that ability to sit out gym class. He acts very suave and smart-alecky. In "DodgeBrawl", Noah claims sports aren't his forte. After making nasty and rude remarks towards his team, as well as his unwillingness to participate in the challenge, his team turned against him for his conniving attitude and useless assistance. Audition: In his audition tape, he tells the camera that smarts always win in the end, and that he has got the competition in the bag. An off-camera voice belonging to a classmate of Noah's named Joey congratulates Noah on winning student body president.
French Name: Lucas.

Owen - The Funniest Guy Around

Owen (voice of Scott McCord) is The Funniest Guy Around. He was the winner. Owen, A.K.A. "Fatty Ginormus", is a large, enthusiastic boy. Having three older brothers, he is "the baby" of the family. Owen enjoys parties, and gets into many funny situations. Owen joined TDI because he enjoys summer camp. He fears flying.^[1] Owen is a big lovable tub of fun, may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but has a pure batch of optimism. Beans make him sleepwalk, as well as he consistently passes gas (in the opening sequence, his gas is seen killing a fish). He showed signs of being homosexual, as one sign is in the episode Trial by Tri-Armed Triathalon, where he exclaims that Justin was hot. Yet, he went out with Izzy. Izzy and Owen made out behind a bush, and he was later seen kissing a carved Izzy head in the confession stall.^[9] This may imply that he is bisexual, as he is seen commenting on Justin's good looks, and making out with Izzy. He was friends with Cody and Noah. He becomes upset when people say he's three hundred pounds, claiming that he's only two hundred ninety-six. He becomes upset with Heather for making fun of Izzy's craziness, and calls her a b****. In the last episode of sseason 1, he also starts kissing Izzy when he won. Owen won the last challenge when Izzy lured him to the finish line with brownies and a fan. No one expected Owen to win but he is the winner of the first season of Total Drama Island. ^[9] French Name: Gontran.

Trent - The Cool Guy

Trent (voice of Scott McCord) is The Cool Guy. Trent was the fourteenth voted off. Trent is “the cool camper”, he enjoys riding his new motorcycle and dislikes his dad telling him to become an accountant. He is known for being simply cool, relaxed, and plays a guitar. Trent joined TDI because he felt it was a cool way to spend the summer. He is proud of his motorcycle. Trent hadn't ever gone out of his way to "get" people to like him, it simply turned out that way. Trent never brags about his popularity. Trent had other girls and guys admiring him; him being to likeable to hate. He was once voted as "Most Mysterious and Irresistible"; it was later discovered the Voting Committee was comprised completely of girls; all of whom dated Trent. In “Phobia Factor” it reveals his greatest fear is mimes, which stems from the first time he visits a carnival. In "Brunch of Disgustedness", we revealed that when he was little, he parents would hold him down and force-feed him broccoli. The same method was used to make him eat the grasshopper pizza, which brought the memories back, causing him to temporarily revert to a child-like state. He went out with Gwen, however Gwen harboured resentment from when Trent left her side in “Phobia Factor”.^[1] This relationship was broken up later, with a lot of help from Heather, but they made up right after Trent was voted off. On the final episode he went with Gwen the whole challenge, staying on her side, but Gwen did not want him around saying that he is forgiven but whe doesn't want to go out with him. He shows his love for her by carrying a huge rock. At the end he finally convinces Gwen to go out with him. A running gag through the series is that Trent always appears to be getting hurt. Several injuries he received are being whacked by Bridgette's surfboard, getting a concussion by Owen, getting food poisoned by Lindsey, falling flat onto a pile of sand when his team couldn't catch him, nearly drowning in quicksand, vomiting so much to even fill the confession stall, and when the skunk sprayed him during one of his challenges.

Audition: He is seen playing a guitar and singing a song, then a string in his guitar breaks and he says "Oh crap."

Killer Bass

Killer Bass was the first team to become eliminated.

Bridgette - The Surfer Girl

Bridgette (voice of Kristin Fairlie) is The Surfer Girl. Bridgette was the fifteenth voted off. She is a stunning/"hot"(the boys think that), blond and a compassionate environmentalist, with a knack for surfing. She is not very coordinated on land, and she made her team pay the price on multiple accounts. (Ex. breaking Courtney's violin,^[7] setting the team tent ablaze) She is more graceful out on the open sea. She has a crush on Geoff. Her fear is being alone in the woods.^[1] Bridgette has a talent of doing a hand stand for 20 minutes.^[7] Bridgette is friends with Gwen and Leshawna. She is a vegetarian.^[20] On October 18, 2007, an error on the Teletoon Total Drama Island website had accidentally revealed Bridgette to be the next one eliminated. Geoff had a crush on her, and they almost kissed before she left. She was the fifteenth voted off thanks to the boys making an alliance and voting her off because of her athletic ability was the best of the girls remaining, though Geoff doesn't vote her off. Geoff takes her elimination really hard. Even though she was one of Gwens best friends she goes on Owen's side when he says he'll through a awesome party on a yacht if he wins.^[15] Audition: Her friends, that are mostly guys, cheers her on while she attempts to whistle the yankee doodle song through her nose. After claiming she isn't really good, she then explains she is a good friend and will try her best and either win with integrity or leave with her head held high.

Courtney - The Type-A

Courtney (voice of Emilie-Claire Barlow) is The Type-A. Courtney was the eleventh voted off.

A bossy girl who feels the need to be in charge because she has leadership training. Courtney joined the show because she thinks it is a good way to see if she will succeed in real life and is a strong figure of authority upon her team. She is determined to win the contest and the $100,000 with her ethics, love of rules and overall controlling attitude. Courtney can play the violin.^[7] She is someone that you don't want to have on your bad side because when she implies that you are going down she means it which was why Sadie was voted off. Throughout the series it is implied she likes Duncan, but for many episodes she denies it. When Duncan implies that she likes him, she rants for hours in the confession room about not liking him until the point where she is told to let someone else have a turn. ^[21] In the end however, the two become a couple after many season hints of her crush on Duncan. In the episode where contestants are confronted with their worst fears, Courtney holds Duncan's hand reasurringly before Duncan faces his fear. Similarly, Courtney hugs Duncan before facing her fear of green Jell - O. (She says it looks like jiggly mucus.) <Courtney ended up being the eleventh voted off because Harold wanted revenge on Duncan for Duncan's pranks on him, so after seeing Courtney and Duncan kiss, he swapped the votes in the box and put Courtney's name in it to get her out. In the end, Duncan gives Courtney a skull to remember him by. She hunts down Harold because he got her voted off. At the end she is still kissing Duncan because she finds rebels "hawt"^[22] Audition: In her audition tape, she tells the camera that she is running for student council president. She promises to conduct herself with honour and integrity if she wins, and then accidentally mixes up her two speeches by promising to donate two new pop machines for the cafeteria. Then she swears (because apparently she got her two speeches mixed-up), and argues with the cameraman when he refuses to tape a re-do.
French Name: Audrey.

DJ - The Brickhouse With Heart

DJ ( voice of Clé Bennett) is The Brickhouse With Heart. He was seventeenth voted off A tall, sweet-tempered Jamaican-Canadian boy. He never auditioned for TDI, but he was seen doing a feat of super human strength. He figured that the money would really help his mother fulfill her dream of going back to Jamaica. He is afraid of snakes, heights, and water, after his incident at his local swimming pool. His brothers dared him to dive off the highest diving board, or they would call him "Chicken". DJ dove off the diving board, bottom first. When he landed in the water, his swimming trunks went so far up his butt that he required hospitalization. This splash became known as the "wedgie flop".^[1] His talent is rhythmic gymnastics.^[7] DJ's best friend at the island is Geoff. DJ also has a pet rabbit that he found in the camp out challenge named Bunny, but Bunny dies when a snake swallows him then and eagle takes the snake and the eagle and the snake with Bunny are eaten by a shark. Later in the episode Duncan finds DJ a new bunny. Courtney sees Duncan luring the bunny to DJ by tying a carrot on a stick and dragging on the ground until eventually he picks up the bunny and brings him to The sad DJ during the blind tobbogan race when DJ takes of his blindfold and loses the challenge for breaking the rules. DJ is once again the happiest guy on earth now that he is reunited with a bunny pal to cheer him up once again. When DJ finds out he is to skydive from a plane 5 thousand feet in the air with Chris as the pilot. He's kinda shaky but he's gonna do it. DJ jumps out of the plane and he pulls the cords in the wrong order but luckily, he landed on the couch really hard and making the couch fold up. The Teletoon website revealed DJ was voted off (before he was) like with Bridgette and Geoff. DJ got voted off because he kept on screaming like a girl after seeing Heather's facial mask (and not chef). Audition: In his audition, he explains all of his good qualities and why he should be in the contest. He then says that if he wins, he will give his prize to his mom because that's how much he loves her. After, he becomes emotional and bursts into tears. French Name: DJ.

Duncan - The Delinquent

Duncan (voice of Drew Nelson) is The Delinquent. He was the twenty-second voted off. A juvenile delinquent who comes from a long line of policemen and policewomen. He is easily angered and cross towards the other members of the Killer Bass. He knows many tactics from his time spent in juvenile detention centers. (Ex. Duncan teaches The Killer Bass a dodgeball tactic known as "Crush the new guy").^[23] He can carve a picture of a skull into a tree trunk. He's a sarcastic kind of person, flirting with Heather and making fun of Courtney whenever she gets near him. He has a huge crush on Courtney, which he tries to pass off by saying 'she's hot' but he obviously really likes her. His fear is Celine Dion music store standees.^[1] In the end he charms Courtney and they become a couple. Harold was getting back at Duncan by opening the vote off the island box and replacing the votes with all against Courtney votes of his own. When Courtney is kicked off Duncan is devastated.^[22] In the episode he is cuffed with Leshawna he carves D+C in a heart on the back of a wooden sculpture of Courtney's head.^[9] In "No Pain, No Game" he votes for Heather to leave the island because he thinks she has something to do with Courtney being kicked off.^[14] He gives out a shout out to her on camera, telling her "I miss you Babe". He is the leader of the boys' alliance formed in "Hide and Be Sneaky".^[15] He forms a little alliance with Heather in the "Catch and Trap" episode. He is the final Killer Bass to be left on the island after Geoff is voted off. In "That's off the Chain!", he says that his brothers and him would build bikes together; he would steal the parts. In the serial killer challenge, when watching a horror movie with the other campers, it is revealed he and Gwen both like the same movie. He may be friends with Gwen now. When Leshawna told him, while they were cuffed together in a challenge, that she knew about Duncan secretly replacing DJ's pet Bunny, he reveals that his dog ran away when he was six, and that he didn't want DJ to go through the same thing. He was the last Killer Bass to be voted off leaving only former Screaming Gophers. He, Goeff, and Owen take Chris and toss him off the dock of shame and try to get Chef to join him. He finds Gwen and Owen's life in jeopardy funny then him and Courtney start kissing.^[9] Audition: While climbing down a rope, he explains that you may have seen him around already because photographers take his picture, and the fact that he has security cameras in his house. He explains the qualities he has, and lands on the ground. An alarm goes off because he was trying to break out of prison. He then says he has to go, and runs off. French Name: Hugo.

Eva - The Female Bully

Eva (Julia Chantrey) is The Female Bully. She was the second and thirteenth voted off. Eva is a tough girl who has been in physical training since she was three years old. She is physically the strongest member of Killer Bass, and can be seen defeating Tyler in an arm-wrestling match in the opening sequence. Eva is known for eating a goalie net when another soccer team cheated. She can do the most push ups in her school. Eva likes kickboxing, but despises phonies, poseurs, fakes, cheaters, and liars. Eva is implied to be of the Russian descent. While remaining the strongest on her team, her anger is common to burst out at unexpected moments. She has all the makings of a good leader, except for her anger issues. Eva joined TDI to showcase her leadership skills and curb her temper. Eva moved from a small village in Eastern Europe when she was seven years old. The local kids were eager to pick on "the new girl", but never stood a chance. She's done daredevil stunts in movies. Whenever Eva sees someone she hates, she assures herself she'd set them straight. Eva admits that her heroes are Cleopatra, Katherine the Great, and the black-footed mongoose. She harbours a dislike towards Katie and Sadie. After Heather purposely stole her Mp3 Player, Eva lashed out at her team. Then Heather returned her Mp3 Player, saying she found it near the area that the challenge took place in, making Eva look foolish in front of her team. In fear and anger, her team voted her off. She later appeared again in "No Pain, No Game", intent on getting back at Bridgette for voting her off.^[14] However, because everybody was still afraid of Eva, they voted her off again, this time tying her up in a straight jacket. She is one of the few people loyal to Gwen at the final episode. Audition: In her audition tape, Eva says she was the only girl in school who could do more than ten pull-ups. Then she says she would get along with everyone, after beating up a kid who accidentally hit her with a basketball.

Ezekiel - The Home-Schooled Guy

Ezekiel (voice of Peter Oldring) is The Home-Schooled Guy. He was the first voted off. Ezekiel is a socially-inept, sexist, home-schooled guy. Ezekiel speaks eight different languages himself. He truly enjoys being homeschooled, as his parents want him away from the evil of the world. He dislikes the fresh air. He can't be able to master "teenspeak". He has been home schooled all his life, raised by his prairie parents. He joined TDI because it was doctor's orders; his doctor was concerned about his Vitamin-D deficiency so they were instructed to get him out of the house and into fresh air. Ezekiel is really, excited to be on Total Drama Island, as he doesn't usually get the chance to meet real life kids. Ezekiel makes a cameo in the episode "Basic Straining" as a picture on the milk carton when Courtney and Duncan are raiding the fridge. After making a mysogynistic and offensive comment about guys being much stronger and better at sports than girls, the Killer Bass had voted him off, making him the first to walk the Dock of Shame. ^[24]He has a crush on Bridgette. When seen at the Resort of Losers, it's revealed that Ezekiel has become more like a normal teen than before, having apparently mastered "Teen Speaking" and obtaining a gold chain with a big Z on it. Audition: In his audition tape, he attempts to catch a moose, but winds up hitting his mom with an arrow.

Geoff - The Party Guy

Geoff (voice of Dan Petronijevic) is The Party Guy. He was the nineteenth voted off. He wears a pink shirt and a cowboy hat. Has five younger brothers at home as well as bohemian parents. He has a big crush on Bridgette, but always seems to ruin any potential chances he has with her. After Bridgette was voted off, Geoff is devastated (for example, crying for her in the outhouse, singing solemn songs). His fear is hail.^[1] He is good-natured but notably stupid in things like how to deal with women. He can also be seen acting as a peacemaker or encouraging other members. Geoff's best friend is DJ. Geoff has a tattoo on his butt, which he offered to show to Bridgette. Gwen gets upset when he was voted off, but is happy that Geoff will be taking her to her first ever party. Geoff was the nineteenth voted off.^[9] At the last episode for season 1, He wants Owen to win for the party he will through if he does. He, Duncan, and Owen dunk Chris and try to get Chef to join him. French Name: J-F (probably Jean-François).

Harold - The Dweeb

Harold (voice of Brian Froud) is The Dweeb. He was the twelfth voted off. An awkward, geeky teen with various medical problems, who had the most badges while in Possum Scouts. He also took figure-skating lessons. He also has a similar voice to Napoleon Dynamite. When over-exerted he experiences severe heart palpitations. He is skilled in human beatboxing.^[7] His fear is ninjas.^[1] In "Basic Straining", it's revealed Harold has a vengeful dark side as he had re-arranged the votes in the voting box to kick out Courtney, in order to get revenge on Duncan.^[22] Harold has helped win four challenges for Killer Bass. In "X-treme Torture", he saw Heather topless, causing him to obsess about it for the remainder of the episode. It was also revealed he has a crush on Leshawna, for he had been writing love letters for her. They both kiss, before he leaves. Audition: In his audition tape, he shows off his Possum Scouts badges, then madly attempts to play a song on an electric piano, but it falls over and the camera goes out, followed by Harold's breathing sounds.
French Name: Harold.

Katie - The Sweet Girl

Katie (voice of Stephanie Anne Mills) is The Sweet Girl. She was the fifth voted off. She and Sadie are best female friends for life, dressing alike and spending all their time together. Katie met Sadie when they first met as next door neighbours. Katie likes her best friend for life Sadie, and dislikes being separated from her. Katie was originally on the Screaming Gophers, but could not stand to be on the opposite team of Sadie, and Izzy volunteered to switch with her during the first challenge. After she and Sadie come last, losing Killer Bass's victory, she was voted off the Island. She and Sadie can be seen gawping at Justin in the opening sequence of the show. Katie is talented at sewing items from scratch. Katie joined TDI because it will bring greatness for her and Sadie. She and Sadie sell ice cream every summer. If Katie starts a sentence, Sadie is sure to finish it. Katie often makes her and Sadie's outfits. While Katie thinks with her heart, Sadie thinks with her head.^[25] Audition: In her audition tape, she and Sadie dance together, but she bumps into the camera and knocks it over, and lands unconscious. French Name: Katrine.

Sadie - The Sweet Girl's Friend

Sadie (voice of Lauren Lipson) is The Sweet Girl's Friend. She was the tenth voted off. She and Katie are best female friends for life, dressing alike and spending all their time together. Sadie met Katie when they first met as next door neighbours. Sadie likes her best friend for life Katie, and dislikes being separated from her. Unlike thin Katie, Sadie is overweight. However, throughout the series, only Katie herself had made the remark that Sadie was obese ("I'm sorry I said your butt was too big to fit in the bus seat!"). After Katie gets voted off, Sadie becomes devastated and remains in shock. By the end of the episode ("Phobia Factor") Sadie befriends Lindsey. Her fear is bad hair cuts.^[1] In some episodes, it was implied that Harold might have had a crush on her, before it was revealed he had a crush on Leshawna. While Katie thinks with her heart, Sadie thinks with her head. Audition: In her audition tape, after putting the camera back into an upright position, she knocks out Katie in a pillow fight. After she realizes this, she immediately switches the camera off.
French Name: Sandrine.

Tyler - The Jock

Tyler (voice of Peter Oldring) is The Jock. He was the sixth voted off. Tyler likes anything that involves throwing, catching, hitting, or bouncing. He dislikes admitting that he isn't good at sports. He is known for being outfitted in the latest top-of-the-line logos. He joined TDI for the wild challenges to test his skills. Tyler loves sports. He considers himself a pro-level player in hockey, football, basketball, down to horsehoes, thumb wrestling, and a few more he couldn't think of off-hand. However, his many coaches have different opinions of his skill level. Tyler's gym teacher consistently gives Tyler and E for Effort. Tyler has a lot of enthusiasm and drive, however talent and coordination aren't his strong points. Tyler is competitive, but prides himself on his friendliness too. While not throwing a ball back and forth, he can be found hanging out with his many friends. He had a crush on Lindsay, and they kissed. Audition: In his audition tape, he tells the viewers that this show needs an athlete, and that he is the man, he then wipes out in football, swimming, and basketball.

Other characters

Chef Hatchet

Chef Hatchet (Voiced by Clé Bennett) is The Chef. Chef is a big, loud, tough, intimidating man with a permanent sneer on his face. Under Chris' employment, he works as an inept chef in the mess hall. He assists Chris with his various challenges, and works as a ridiculous idol^[clarify] on the camp. Chef is presumably the only other staff on the island. Chris put him in charge of the "Boot Camp" challenge, making him order the campers around like a drill sergeant.^[22] He says he was in the army but no one believes him. He was modeled after actor Samuel L. Jackson.He hates Duncan and has nicknames for almost every camper, like Owen is "fatty" or "tubby" and he calls Noah "Scrawny kid". He is not as tough as everyone thinks he is. Chris is much more calm than he is, and Chef will do whatever Chris tells him to. In the episode, Are We There, Yeti, he wears frilly pink dresses, enjoys playing the harp and makes sticky buns. In Camp Castaways, he cries over how dedicated Chris is to the show, and leaps into Chris' arms in fear after the campers try and scare them as headhunters. At the end he enjoys when they dunk Chris, but doesn't want to join him in the water. French Name: Chef Albert.

Camera Crew

As well, there is also a camera crew on the island who follow the contestants around, getting everything that they do on tape, but the only times they ever came into play was when they informed Chris that Duncan fell asleep on the toilet, and when they had ordered pizza during a challenge (much to the Screaming Gophers' chagrin).

Chaserocks

Winner of the teletoon interactive games contest. He was an intern that came in the last episode because all the other interns died. He was eaten by sharks.

Animals

Bunny

DJ's pet bunny rabbit. Bunny was first seen in "The Not So Great Outdoors Part 1", where DJ is over enjoyed to see. Bunny is seen as a small, white rabbit with bright jewel bright eyes. In "Who Can You Trust?", DJ trust's Geoff to take care of Bunny while he's in the challenge. While going swimming with Bridgette, Geoff leaves Bunny on a chair. Bunny dies while getting eaten by a snake, who was taken away by an eagle who got eaten by a shark. The death of Bunny emotionally weakens DJ. In the same episode, Duncan notices DJ's sadness and coaxes another rabbit (But later he said that the bunny was following him) to follow him. He passes off the rabbit as the original Bunny, much to DJ's reinstated happiness. On the key for the chest episode, Bridgette has to take a key from a bunny. But the bunny opens it's mouth and tries to eat her! You don't see that everyday. French Name: Chichi.

Bear

The bear first appears in "The Sucky Outdoors", and has appeared in almost all episodes after. It was first attracted by Izzy's bear costume, which caused it to frighten the entire Gopher team onto a tree. In another episode, he is seen eating chips (that he had stolen from Cody after mauling him ferociously), and wiping Cody's glasses with his fur. In "X-Treme Torture", it had been seen stealing marshmallows. In "No Pain, No Game", the bear comes into it's largest role yet, that being in a challenge with Leshawna, to which it lost, causing it to fall into a lake full of piranha. At the end of the episode, it is seen attempting to cover it's bald patches with an outfit from Katie or Sadie and looking at itself with Lindsay's or Justin's mirror. French Name: Ours.

Blue Bird

A blue bird almost in every episode that waddles around Camp Wawanakwa with his poofy blue frow, and occasionally a worm in its mouth. On the 'I triple dog dare you' episode,the seagull has the worm while it is sleeping in one of the speakers.Soon, Chris yells out the pancake breakfast thing and the worm falls out, which is soon discovered by the blue bird.

Seagull

A seagull with a pop bottle wrapper stuck on its neck that appears in every episode, and in the theme, where it is pulled underwater by a mysterious tentacle.

Other

Mr. Coconut - 21st elminiated

It was the 21st voted off. Mr. Coconut was a coconut that Owen befriended in the Castaway challenge. A parody of Wilson the Volleyball. Owen painted a red smile on Mr. Coconut under the three holes on it, and adorned it with decorative leaves for hair. The other contestants were uncomfortable with Owen's relationship with Mr. Coconut, and that, coupled with the fact that it wasn't really a contestant on the show, lead them to decide that the only way to relieve Owen of Mr. Coconut was to vote it off. Owen was devestated when Mr. Coconut was voted off. Mr. Coconut reappeared in the next episode for a brief moment, and was chopped in half by Chef. Audition: The camera zooms in on Mr. Coconut as he lounges in a chair, then falls over.
