That's So Raven is a sitcom and children's/adolescent's show about a teenage girl (Raven) whose psychic powers get her, her friends, and her family into crazy situations. There are many characters in the series.

Main characters

  • Raven Lydia Baxter, played by Raven-Symoné (Raven-Symoné Christina Pearman)

Always trying to change the future, Raven is the psychic, sometimes self-absorbed, protagonist of the series. Her best friends are Chelsea Daniels and Eddie Thomas. She has one brother, and is an aspiring fashion designer. She becomes an intern for world-famous Donna Cabonna, and attends Bayside High School. Her catchphrase is "Oh, Snap!" (which existed before the show was created.) The lead character's original name was "Dawn Baxter", but was changed to "Raven Baxter" when Raven-Symoné got the part. (Raven was originally cast as the best friend, but earned the leading role when Disney saw the pilot, according to "Life Story Magazine".)

Eddie is one of Raven's best friends. He is an aspiring rapper, and is a member of the school basketball team. He's like a brother to Cory Baxter. He briefly had a romantic relationship with Raven, and was shown in a vision to be Raven's husband. His catchphrase is "Told ya, told ya twice!" after he told Raven not to do something she knew she would do.

is Raven's other best friend. She is an environmentalist, vegeterian, and artist. She is portrayed as being not very bright (although earlier seasons saw her to be as smart as Raven, but to extreme limits). She usually uses the catchphrases "I don't get it" , "That makes more sense" or "This is awkward" . She is quite dumb, but has a few moments when she knows certain smart things, which surprises her friends (Raven and Eddie).

  • Cory Baxter, played by Kyle Massey (Kyle Orlando Massey).

Cory is Raven's only sibling. He has two best friends, William and Larry. He and his two best friends comprise the band "Cory and the Boys". The band has one song: "Feelin' the Love". Cory is the drummer and lead singer, while Larry is the guitarist. William started out playing the clarinet, and then moved on to the keyboard. Cory is shown to be obsessed with money, and earlier in the series, he had a crush on Chelsea Daniels. His catchphrase is "Cha-ching". He and Victor are the main characters in the TSR spin-off series Cory in the House.

is the father of Raven and Cory. He was a chef in another restaurant before opening his own: The Chill Grill. His rival is Leonard Stevenson. In Cory in the House, he gets a job as the President's chef. His catchphrase is "Here come the pain!" whenever something happened that hurt him.

is the mother of Raven and Cory. She was a housewife until 2005, when she decided to go to England to study law. Her catchphrase is "Momma like".

Recurring characters

That's So Raven has had many recurring characters - most of whom have stayed on the show for all four seasons; however, some have only appeared in a few episodes.

Disappearing/memorable main characters

The season four cast of That's So Raven.
The season four cast of That's So Raven.

Tanya Baxter left the show after the episode Food for Thought. She has been mentioned many times, but has not been seen since. Instead, the characters refer to her as having traveled to England to study law further. Despite her disappearance, Keymáh was still credited for the remaining six episodes of Season three. On Keymáh's official website, [1] it states that she agreed to play Tanya Baxter for three seasons only. However, some state that Keymáh left the show after creative differences.[2]

Mr. Lawler is a recurring character during Seasons one and two. He was neither seen nor mentioned again after the episode Clothes Minded. However, in the fourth season, Raven and Chelsea were standing outside Principal Lawler's office. He tends to spit a lot when he talks, making his students avoid the seat right in front of his desk. (However, on several occasions, Eddie was forced to sit there because it was the only seat left.). Mr. awler replaced Mr. Perkins as principal after Nr, Perkins became the Superintendent. Mr. Lawler served as principal from 2003-2006, and was later replaced by Principal Stuckerman.

Ben Sturky disappeared after three episodes in the first season. He had extremely bad body odor, and is avoided because of it. A recurring gag is that whenever he lifts his arms, whomever smelled his armpits would faint on contact. He really liked Raven, and even called her "the cutest girl in school". They most likely, however, ended their relationship as friends.

Alana has been a rival of Raven's since elementary school. In every episode that she appeared in, she almost found out Raven's secret. She disappeared in Season three after appearing in four episodes because, according to Muffy, "She was so bad that she got sent to military school". She was eventually replaced by Bianca, who was "so bad that she got kicked out of military school". However, Bianca herself disappeared after two episodes in Season three, and was neither seen nor mentioned again. Muffy and Loca are the other members of Alana's/Bianca's [[posse], and are usually present in the newer episodes, even though they have not appeared together in the same episode since Bianca's last appearance, despite stating they didn't know how to be individuals. For this reason, some believe that Bianca's gang is no more. Maybe Bianca was sent back to military school, or perhaps she was transferred. It is never explained, but Bianca is clearly no longer at Raven's school.

  • Sierra - Juliette Goglia (Juliette Rose Goglia), Raven's neighbor is only seen or heard from in two episodes. She is very annoying, and her antics make Raven look like a maniac. She looks up to Raven as if she were her own sister, which caused even more mishaps.
  • Mr. Petracelli - Ernie Sabella, Raven's teacher was never or mentioned later on after the episode Escape Claus. He is able to detect whether or not other people are paying attention, as if he were a robot, and he only calls on those students who are not listening, in an attempt to humiliate them. He has a disgusting neck crack. Every year, he plays Santa Claus.
  • Chantel - Drew Sidora (Drew Sidora Jordan), Eddie's girlfriend in Season 3. Although she appeared in four episodes (in season 3), her last appearance was in Save the Last Dance. She is never seen or mentioned in Season 4. She has an incredible appetite, but is very beautiful anyway.

Disappearing significant others

  • Brenda Song's character, Amber, disappeared, although she has been mentioned in a few episodes. Some say she was merely guest starring.
  • In the pilot episode of That's So Raven, entitled Smell of Victory, Eddie begins dating a girl named Crystal (played by Christel Khalil). She is neither seen nor mentioned again until the Season two episode The Dating Shame, when Crystal, (along with her friend, Claudia) compete against Raven and Chelsea to go out with a guy named Chad on the fictional dating show Termi-Date. The only other time Crystal was mentioned was during the beginning of the third-season episode Point of No Return, when Raven; Eddie; and Chelsea all talk about Crystal's upcoming party.
  • In the episode Mr. Perfect, Raven dates a guy named André. During the course of that episode, they break-up, but later get back together. After that episode, André is neither seen nor mentioned again.
  • In the episode Double Vision, Chelsea begins to date a guy named Ben, who has the same psychic powers as Raven. For some reason, he does not appear in any future episodes, and is not mentioned again.
