The following is a list of locations in the video game franchise Silent Hill.

Silent Hill

The eponymous name of the main location in all 6 Silent Hill games. A small town, its location remains unknown (in the film its placed in West Virginia). Around 1500-An Indian tribe lived in there, the area was known as a sacred spot by these people. They called it the Place Of the Silenced Spirits and were capable to talk with their dead ancestors. Later around the time of the 16th century settlers arrived in the sacred region built a town which name has been lost in the veils of history. In the 17th century A fatal disease fell on the settlers who decided to abandon their homes. The abandoned town was settled in the mid 18th century as a penal colony by a new group of settlers who named and founded the town Silent Hill. The most noticeable group in Silent Hill is a corrupted version of Gnostic Christianity known simply as The Order. This cult has been divided into three different sects (although still connected) with the time. The Valtiel sect, the Holy Mother sect and the Saint Ladies sect. Paleville – Identified in 'Silent Hill 2' as being the northern half of the town, the counterpart to South Vale. Contains Old Silent Hill, Central Silent Hill, and the resort area. Old Silent Hill – Primarily residential area, usually ignored by people on vacation.

  • Cafe 5to2 - A small diner located on the North side of town. Harry wakes up here, and meets Cybil, in the beginning of the game.
  • Convenience Store 8 - A general store in the north of Old Silent Hill.
  • Midwich Elementary School - An elementary school located on the south-west side of town. Both Lisa Garland and Alessa Gillespie were students there. Also seen in Silent Hill (film).
  • Balkan Church – A legitimate church, possibly Eastern Orthodox, in Old Silent Hill. Virtually ignored by members of The Order even though Dahlia is seen there. Henry Townshend has a photograph of the church in his bedroom.
  • Gas Station - A Gas Station, with a small garage.
  • Cut Rite Chain Saws - A small shop near Blooch St.
  • Bridge Control Room - A two floor building where the bridge from Old Silent Hill to Central Silent Hill can be raised and lowered from.
  • Queen Burger - A Fast Food Restaurant.

Central Silent Hill – Business district made primarily for the use of tourists.

  • Police – The headquarters of the Silent Hill police force and their (ineffective) war on Order-related drug trafficking.
  • Silent Hill Post Office - A normal post office. Harry fights a gigantic moth creature here.
  • Silent Hill Town Center – A shopping mall located in the northwestern section of Central Silent Hill. Dahlia Gillespie’s antique store (and secret chapel) is next door to the mall.
  • Alchemilla Hospital – A hospital located in Central Silent Hill. The hospital serves as a front for the production and distribution of White Claudia. Alessa was once a patient there. The workplace of both Lisa and Kaufman. Contains rooms underground where they stored "specialized" patients. Alessa spent her time in one of these rooms.
  • Nathan Drugs - The Local Drug Store seen in Silent Hill 1 and Silent Hill (film)
  • Antique Green Lion - Dahlia's business/base of operations for The Order.
  • Cedar Grove Sanitarium - Mental hospital on the edge of Silent Hill. Helen Grady was institutionalized there in the early 1960s.
  • Artaud Theatre - A playhouse in Central Silent Hill. While watching a rehearsal of The Tempest there, Alessa was frightened by the actor playing Caliban and gave him a severe nosebleed with her powers.

Silent Hill (resort area) – The tourist destination on the north side of Toluca Lake.

  • The Lighthouse – The lighthouse on Toluca Lake, one of the town’s oldest structures. Henry Townshend has a photograph of the Lighthouse in his bedroom.
  • Lakeside Amusement Park – A theme park overlooking the lake.In Silent Hill 3, it is revealed that it is somehow connected with the church, and contains a passage to it behind the merry-go-round.
  • Annie's Bar - A bar where Kaufmann leaves behind a trail of clues that Harry follows.
  • Indian Runner - A general store owned by a member of the local drug syndicate who knows Kaufmann.
  • Norman's Motel – A motel on the north shore of Toluca Lake. Kaufman lives there.
  • Lakeview Hotel - Before the second game took place, the hotel was completely destroyed by a fire.

South Vale – The mainly residential, non-tourist part of town on the south side of Toluca Lake.

  • Observation Deck – A scenic overlook along County Road 73 adjacent to a wooded hiking path.
  • Woodside Apartments – A neighboring complex of Blue Creek Apartments.
  • Blue Creek Apartments – A small apartment building. Angela's mother may have lived there. This is also where James Sunderland first encounters Pyramid Head.
  • The Baldwin Mansion - A large, stately mansion located very close to Blue Creek Apartments. It is revealed in the game that a man named Ernest Baldwin lived there, with his daughter who accidentally died, and possibly his wife (it is not stated if he lived with his wife or not). Can only be visited when playing Maria's side of the story.
  • Rosewater Park – A park on the south shore of Toluca Lake. Contains a memorial to the people lost in the 1918 disappearance of the Little Baroness.
  • Heaven’s Night – A gentleman’s club enjoying moderate fame in South Vale. It is hinted that Maria works here, and Silent Hill 3 references the 'return of Lady Maria' to the stage.
  • Brookhaven Hospital – A hospital/mental institution in South Vale. Founded in the 1860s as a Civil War field hospital and in response to a mysterious disease which plagued the town. Mary checked in here before leaving with James on their honeymoon and would later check in at St. Jerome’s Hospital back in Ashfield were she would meet Laura. This hospital also contains a hidden underground room which is referenced in document and possibly serves a similar function to the 'Alchemilla Hospital' rooms. Also seen in Silent Hill (film).
  • Silent Hill Historical Society – A historical museum on the edge of South Vale. Appears to be built on the ruins of Toluca Prison. Contains portrait of 'Pyramid Head'.
  • Toluca Prison – A now-defunct prison originally used to house Civil War POWs. Exact location is not stated in the games, however it appears to be located beneath the Historical Society building. Possibly the building was built over the site of the unused prison. However this may just be caused by James' delusions though it is still highly likely based on where James exits the Labyrinth that connects to it.
  • Jack's Inn – A small motel located just South of Rosewater park. Douglas and Heather rest in a room here before they split up. James finds a save point on a car, and the dog key here, but nothing else.
  • Neelys Bar - A Bar located on the corner of Neely St. and Sanders St., James can go in it to look at a map and get taunted by daubed messages. Also seen in Silent Hill (film).
  • Pete's Bowl-O-Rama - A Bowling Ally where James sees Eddie eating pizza talking to Laura. Also seen in Silent Hill (film).
  • Texxon Gas - Gas Station where a weapon as well as other items can be found. Eddie worked here at one time but was made fun of, so he quit.

Toluca Lake – The lake, surrounded by forests, upon which the town of Silent Hill was founded. Henry Townshend has a photograph of Toluca Lake in his bedroom and he gets to see it when he visits Silent hill woods. James crosses it to get to the Lakeview Hotel. In the film, Cybil mentions that there is a watchtower with a radio on the far side of the lake.

  • Wish House (A.K.A. Hope House) – A secluded, Order-run orphanage in the woods outside of Silent Hill. Walter Sullivan lived here.
  • The Water Prison (A.K.A. Cylinder Prison, A.K.A. Panopticon) – A jail used by The Order to punish and brainwash the children living in the Wish House. While a stay there was used as a form of punishment, most of the children's stays were scheduled. Most likely situated within a mile or two of Wish House.

Other Towns

Heather's town – The unnamed town to which Harry and Heather moved in the witness protection program after being attacked in Portland.
