Limbo is a mobile entertainment company delivering text message-based game play. Limbo was founded in December 2005 by Rob Lawson, Jonathon Linner and Juho-Pekka Virolainen, co-founders of Enpocket. The Burlingame, Calif. company is backed by the venture capitalists Azure Capital Partners, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, and New Enterprizes Associates. [1] [2] The company offers consumers a community-driven gaming experience while providing an advertising method for brands and media companies through multiple platforms, including the Internet, SMS and WAP. The company’s premier product is Limbo Unique, in which the winner is the player who holds the lowest unique number for a prize when the game ends. Players who compete in Limbo Unique through text messaging or the mobile Internet also earn Limbo Loot, redeemable for free merchandise from the Limbo store.[3] Among others, Limbo has partnered with Virgin Group, Lifetime Television, Procter & Gamble, Glam.com, The Walt Disney Company and Electronic Arts.
