Lil' Troy is a U.S. rapper. Lil' Troy, who featured in his songs many members of the Screwed Up Click, managed to break out of Houston's thriving rap scene in the late '90s with "Wanna Be a Baller," one of the few Houston-based songs to reach national audiences. The track was actually written by fellow Houston rapper E.S.G., although he was never credited with it, and still holds a grudge over the situation. The song propelled his debut album, "Sittin' Fat Down South", to respectable success, particularly for a Houston artist. Released in 1998, Universal picked up the album, re-released it in 1999, and helped "Wanna Be a Baller" spread from city to city. That was about all the success Troy had for a while, though. As the late '90s became the early 2000s, "Wanna Be a Baller" still garnered play, but Troy couldn't deliver a strong follow-up single, instead watching his moment of opportunity diminish. His last album was a screwed and chopped version of his album "Back to Ballin." His relatively upscale, contemporary, casual clothing line hit the streets in May 2006.Most recently Lil Troy has signed Yung Damon aka The Phenom and another Houston rapper by the name of HQ.It is said that Yung Damon is the hottest young unknow rapper in the South at this point and time.It is rumored that Yung Damon is 14 years of age but if you listen to some of his lyrics on several mixtapes he truly sounds and even appears to be older. In an come back effort Lil Troy has also hired Alfred Rucker as President of Short Stop Records.Alfred Rucker is a local business man with a proven track record and an impressive resume. It surly seems that Lil Troy will soon regain his spot in Hip Hop as a major force in the industry.

Biography
In elementary school he began playing alto sax in the school band, and continued throughout high school. After graduating he started playing in a concert band and began producing tracks for local rap artists on the side. This was back around 1989, when the seeds for the now burgeoning Houston rap scene were being cultivated. One of the first artists he worked with later became Scarface, and their underground single was a hit in Houston before the bulk of the nation had ever heard of the now infamous Geto Boys. Scarface soon went on to sign with Rap-A-Lot Records, and Troy continued on with different artists until catching his first bid in the pen from 1991-1993. He bounced between music, hustling, and celebrate a good part of the success of his multi-platinum major label debut, "Sittin' Fat Down South," while sitting flat in a Texas Federal Penitentiary. "In the midst of me being all hot and hyped up about me being Lil' Troy, I had to go sit down, I had to go do the Fed time which was like nine months. The record came out before I went to the Feds but I had already caught the case about a year before, and I was fighting it. So I fought it down to nine months, came back, and now I got the movie out. Matter of fact I got two movies out. Done it all before I went to jail," Lil' Troy explained in an interview. His newest film, "Wanna Be a Baller" was filmed in the eleven days preceding his nine month Fed sentence. In fact, Troy shot the final reels one Sunday night at two in the morning, knowing that he had to be in Beaumont to turn himself in, in just six short hours. The circumstances surrounding Lil' Troy's multiple incarcerations have long been suspicious. Despite being caught with vast amounts of cocaine and the seriousness of the charges he has faced, he has done relatively little time during each jail stint. The widespread belief is that Lil' Troy cooperated with the government and informed on his associates in the drug trade. "So I went to jail," Troy continues, "came out in 2000, edited the movie, and BET picked it up. It showed on Action Pay Per View everyday in February and March and is out now on video," he explained. Without the help of Universal Records -- they refused the film when Troy first brought it to them -- the film is now available everywhere on video and has been shown numerous times on BET's national pay per view network. Quite a coup for a first time film maker straight out of jail. In 2007, he returned to the scene of Houston rap, with the release of Sittin Phat Down South Pt. 2, on Short Stop Records. It featured the single "We Swangin", which features a sample of the late Fat Pat, and guests artists: Lil Keke, Raw'lt, and Lil Troy's son T2. He is currently promoting his new album across the South with fellow Houston rapper, Trae.
