The Liberal Democratic Party (Malay: Parti Liberal Demokratik) is a Chinese political party originally founded in the town of Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia by Datuk Hiew Min Kong. The party is one of the constituent members of the ruling National Front (Barisan Nasional). The party lost the only parliamentary seat it was allow to contest under the Barisan Nasional ticket in the 2004 General Elections. Currently, the president of the party is VK Liew. He took over after its former president, Chong Kah Kiat, one of Sabah's current Deputy Chief Ministers, decided to retire as party president.[1]
