Leopoldus ("Leo") Eduardus Theoduris Peelen (born July 16, 1968 in Arnhem, Gelderland) is a retired Dutch former track cyclist. He won the silver medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. The following year, he captured a bronze medal at the 1989 Lyon World Championships. Peelen became six times Dutch champion on the track (Pointsrace in 1983, 1984, 1985 (winter), Individual Pursuit 1986 and Madison 1987 and 1988) He is the chairman of the organization of the yearly time trial and cycling festival in Beek. [1] He was one of the 66 riders who climbed the Alpe d'Huez 6 times on June 6, 2006. [2] They fundraised 400 k Euro for the Dutch Cancer Society. [3] and they will beat this amount in 2007 when they climb the Alpe d'Huez 7 times on June 7, 2007.
