History
In 1993, Lam Research Corporation acquired Drytek, Inc. from General Signal Corporation, when Drytek's founder Walter W. Zafiropoulo left General Signal to found Ultratech Stepper out of a General Signal division early that same year. General Signal had acquired Drytek, Inc. in 1986. Zafiropoulo had founded Drytek as a plasma dry-etch company in August 1980, and served as Drytek's President and CEO under General Signal as well.[1]
