Lakes (Al Buhayrat)
Lakes (Arabic: البحيرات; transliterated: al-Buhayrat) is one of the 26 wilayat or states of Sudan. It has an area of 40,235 km² and an estimated population of approximately 350,000 (2000). Rumbek is the capital of the state. Lt.Gen. Daniel Awet Akot of the SPLM is governor of the state.
