Kumano (熊野市 Kumano-shi?) is a city located in Mie, Japan. The city was founded on November 3, 1954. On November 1, 2005, the town of Kiwa in Minamimuro District merged into the city. As of the Kiwa merger but with 2003 population estimates, the city has an estimated population of 22,044 and a density of 59 persons per km². The total area is 373.63 km².
