Kjell Inge Røkke (born October 25, 1958 in Molde) is a Norwegian businessman and among the richest men (# 3 per Kapital Finance Magazine, 2006) in Norway. He controls the Norweigian company Aker Kværner. Røkke started out as a fisherman aged 18, and has no formal education. For several years he worked on fishing trawlers in Alaska. In the early 1990s he returned to Norway and started buying and restructuring various companies. Røkke and his business companion Bjørn Rune Gjelsten were involved in the controversial move of Wimbledon Football Club from London to Milton Keynes in 2002, resulting in the Wimbledon fans forming their own club, AFC Wimbledon. He also had shares in Molde F.K. and helped fund the Molde stadium. After his 2005 conviction for corruption involving the illegal purchase of a boat licence, he served 24-25 days of a 30 day prison sentence in Hof, Vestfold.[1][2]
