Justin Tuck (born March 29, 1983 in Kellyton, Alabama) is an American football defensive end in the NFL for the New York Giants.
College career
After redshirting his freshman year at Notre Dame, Justin Tuck played for only two years before declaring himself eligible for the NFL draft. During his time playing for the Fighting Irish, he recorded 24.5 sacks, 164 tackles (including 43 tackles for losses), seven pass deflections and four forced fumbles. The 24.5 sacks and 43 tackles for losses are Notre Dame career records, and his 13.5 sacks in a season is a school single season record.
NFL Career
During the 2005 NFL draft, Tuck was selected with the 10th pick of the 3rd round by the New York Giants. His rookie season in the NFL found him behind Pro Bowl defensive ends Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyoria on the New York Giants depth chart, reducing his role to special teams and the first backup at each defensive end position. He ended the 2005 season with 31 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one pass defended. His first career sack came against the Giants rival, The Dallas Cowboys. He also blocked a kick his rookie season. During his sophomore season in 2006, Tuck was limited to just six games due to injury and only recorded 10 tackles on the season. His best season so far was 2007 when he recorded 65 tackles, 10 sacks, and forced 2 fumbles.
