Jubilee Action is a children's human rights charity based in Guildford, a town in Surrey, UK. Founded by Danny Smith and Lord David Alton in 1992, it was developed from Jubilee Campaign, a successful lobby group.

  • Their vision is to be instrumental in changing the lives of those who suffer unjustly.
  • Their mission is to pioneer work with indigenous partners providing crucial care and shelter.
  • Their aim is not to duplicate the work being done by other organisations, but to find innovative ways of reaching out to children most at risk around the world.

Jubilee Action currently works in 19 countries around the world: Afghanistan, Brazil, Burma, Burundi, China, the Democratic Republic of Congo, El Salvador, India, Iraq, Kenya, Kosovo, North Korea, Pakistan, the Philippines, Romania, Rwanda, Sudan, Thailand and Uganda. They also provide relief and aid for those affected by the 2004 tsunami. They work in 4 main areas:

In 2005, they were featured on ITV News when they released their report "kids behind bars: WHY WE MUST ACT". A reporter accompanied members of the charity to the Philippines to document the children being held illegally in prisons in horrendous conditions. As a result of Jubilee Action's work, mounting international pressure and widespread public condemnation, the Juvenile Justice Bill was passed in April 2006 making it illegal for children under the age of 15 to imprisoned in the Philippines. Notable supporters include comedian Billy Connolly and Aninha Capaldi (wife of deceased musician Jim Capaldi). Ref: Jubilee Action
