Joyce Redman (born December 9, 1918) is a British actress. She was born in County Mayo, Ireland, to an Anglo-Irish family. She was educated by a private governess in Ireland, along with her three sisters. She was trained in acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Her acting roles have been primarily in the theatre and in television movies. Her most successful efforts on the stage were during the 1940s, in Shadow and Substance, Claudia, and Lady Precious Stream. However she has also appeared in some movie releases. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Tom Jones (1963) and also for Othello (1965). Her work on the movie Othello also earned her a 1965 nomination for a Golden Globe. She is the aunt of actress Amanda Redman.
