José Manuel Rey (born May 20, 1975 in Caracas) is a Venezuelan footballer, and defender currently playing in Cyprus for AEK Larnaca FC and for Venezuela's national team. He is also Venezuela's all-time cap leader with 91 international caps. As of October 2007 he has played for several clubs in Europe and South America: C.S. Marítimo de Venezuela, Atlético Nacional, Caracas Fútbol Club, Emelec, Pontevedra, and Dundee F.C.. In 2007 he was sold to AEK Larnaca FC. On October 13th 2007 Rey became a national hero when he scored a spectacular free kick from 45 meters in the 1-0 win over Ecuador during the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying tournament video link.
