John Whitman is an American novelist and martial arts instructor. He has authored many books, and written for other projects such as Zorro, Witch's Curse, and the Star Wars: Galaxy of Fear series. His most recent books include four novels based on the television series "24," published by HarperCollins. He is also the co-author of the book "Complete Krav Maga" published by Ulysses Press. Whitman is a 4th degree Black Belt in Krav Maga, and served as president of Krav Maga Worldwide from 2000-2007, where he taught civilians, military units, and law enforcement agents. Whitman designed the instructor training program used by Krav Maga Worldwide and served as a lead instructor of that program since its inception. Whitman attended the University of California, Berkeley, from 1985-1989 and received a B.A. in Literature; he attended Boston University from 1990-1991 and received an M.A. in Creative Writing. He served as Executive Editor of Time Warner Audiobooks from 1991 to 1999, during which time he began his writing career in full.
