John Tobin (January 28, 1770 - December 7, 1804) was a British playwright, who was for most of his life unsuccessful, but in the year of his death made a hit with The Honey Moon. Other plays were The Curfew and The School for Authors. Tobin, the son of a merchant, was born in Salisbury, the United Kingdom on January 28, 1770. He was educated at Bristol Grammar School, and practised in London as a solicitor.
