John Gilbert Barrett (born April 30, 1952) is an American martial artist and actor. His movie credits include American Kickboxer and To the Death.

John is a protege of the legendary Chuck Norris and a Karate Champion. John trained directly under Chuck and is now a 3rd degree black belt. John has been training since 1972. John's career started alongside Chuck in The Octagon in 1980, in which he starred and had stunts. John can be seen in many more cool action movies, as an actor, but also a stuntman. Throughout his movie career he was also great as a coordinator and fight stager. his most remarkable roles were in Shootfighter as an actor and stunt coordinator, and To The Death, the sequel to his own American Kickboxer 1. John had the privilege of working with Chuck Norris, several time with Richard Norton and Bolo Yeung. Now he doesn't much act anymore working mostly as a professional trainer. John is currently the owner and head instructor at the 'John Barrett American Martial Arts Academy where people can train in Shotokan, Judo, Aikido, Kickboxing, Jiu-Jitsu, Tang Soo Do and Western boxing.
