John D. Barrow (1824-1907), primarily a landscape painter, has been regarded as belonging to the second generation of the Hudson River School. His subject was frequently the Central New York scene, mostly around Skaneateles, New York, where he lived and worked until moving to New York City. A gallery is devoted to his work in the village of Skaneateles.
