Joel Moon (born on the 20th of May, 1988 in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales), is an Australian professional rugby league player. He plays for the Brisbane Broncos in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. Moon played his two career NRL games for the ‘2006 baby Broncos’ after joining fellow teenager David Taylor as the first Broncos that were not yet born when the club burst onto the scene in 1988. The talented five-eighth/lock debuted in round 14 against the South Sydney Rabbitohs before impressing Broncos coach Wayne Bennett as a fill-in centre in round 17 when he kept Cronulla Sharks' Test no.4 Nigel Vagana at bay in the Broncos' memorable 26-12 win. Moon then played the rest of the 2006 season with feeder team Toowoomba Clydesdales, whom he helped reach the Queensland Cup Grand Final after scoring nine tries. Like Taylor, the former Australian schoolboys representative from Morayfield State High School starred for Queensland under 19s against New South Wales in the curtain raiser to the State of Origin series opener in May. He had previously toured Britain with the Australian Institute of Sport at the end of 2005. In NRL season 2007 Moon was selected in the centers for the opening game of the season against the NQ Cowboys. He has played 5 games this season for the club and has scored 2 tries. Moon was trialled as the fifth player to play at halfback for the club in 2007, before Bennett left Michael Ennis there after a decent game against Newcastle. When Moon isn't playing for the Broncos, he plays an instrumental role in the Broncos feeder team in the Queensland Cup-- the Aspley Broncos.
