Jet Records was a small record label set up by Don Arden with artists like Electric Light Orchestra, Roy Wood, Ozzy Osbourne, Riot and Magnum. The first release on the "Jet Records" label was "No Honestly", a UK top 10 for its singer and writer Lynsey De Paul in November 1974 and the Lynsey De Paul album "Taste Me... Don't Waste Me" was the first album release. Lynsey left the label in 1976 after an acrimonious split with Don Arden and ELO went on to provide further hits for the Jet label. Jet Records was acquired by Sony Music Entertainment and its last new album release was in 1986 in Europe with Balance of Power on LP and Cassette (Jet Records 26467) distributed by Columbia Records (now Sony BMG). In Europe, most of the recordings for Jet Records were transferred to Epic Records. Releases up to 1980 were originally distributed by United Artists Records and also reissued albums from Rabbitt. In 1991, Bagdasarian Productions acquired the production company offices and holdings from Arden, and reopened the label under the new name Chipmunk Records. In the mid 1990s several Jet albums were re-released on CD in Europe which weren't bootlegs and also not distributed by Sony. There is a reference to the company in the film Alvin and the Chipmunks.
