Jafar Sharif-Imami (September 8 , 1910 - June 16 , 1998) was a Prime Minister of Iran. Born in Tehran on September 8 , 1910 , he completed his studies in Engineering in Germany and Sweden, and served as a Minister in Manuchehr Eqbal's cabinet. He became Prime Minister in 1960 and also in 1978 only a few months before the revolution.He was notorious as one of the most corrupt officials in Shah's regime (nicknamed Mr. 5 Percent) as well as being the grand master of Freemasonry in Iran. He was appointed prime minister by Shah in late 1978 because of his ties to clergyies. He died in New York on June 16 , 1998.
