Islington is a station on the Bloor-Danforth line of the subway system in Toronto, Canada. It is located at 3286 Bloor Street West at Islington Avenue. It was opened in 1968 as a terminal station, but the line has since been extended to Kipling station. A central platform serves trains running in both directions. Nearby landmarks include Islington Village and Mimico Creek. This is one of only two stations in the subway stations where a track signal is publicly accessible. The signal is at the east end of the platform and guards the switches into the three-track section east of the station from the westbound platform. Between this station and Royal York station to the east, the line exits the tunnel to cross Mimico Creek by bridge, and then returns underground. Three park and ride lots serve Islington station:

  • Main (Metropass required)
  • Cordova (Metropass or cash payment)
  • Lomond (cash payment)

Modernization

The TTC has plans to revitalize this station. Part of the plan includes the demolition of the current bus terminal and reconstructing it on Cordova Ave, revitalizing the underground station with a more modernized look and revitalizing the exterior of the overall station.
