Industry was a pop music band formed in New York which spawned only one album, Stranger to Stranger (1984). Industry was founded in the late 1970s by Brian Unger and Mercury Caronia. They released 2 EPs on Mannequin Records in the early 80s with rather experimental electronic music. After the addition of new lead singer Jon Carin and Rudy Perrone (who was previously in a progressive rock band called Cathedral) they created a more pop-oriented sound and released a Mini-LP and an album. Their best known single, the anti-militarist State of the Nation, broke through the european charts between 1983 and 1984 and led them to being the support band for acts like Billy Idol, Talk Talk and INXS. It was followed by Still of the Night from the same album, but it wasn't as successful as the previous. After the dismembering of the band, Jon Carin started a successful session-man career (he was a permanent member of the Pink Floyd live band and co-wrote the popular Learning To Fly PF single), while Brian Unger and Rudy Perrone went to form their own bands.
