Original Release

According to designer Steve Thompson, the game was inspired by Andrew Von Dollen' Slippy. The goal in Iceman is to collect each coin in every level. Players must use large blocks of ice to fill in pits on the game board. The challenge of the game comes from level configurations and layout. The ice blocks can be moved in any direction by the player, but will slide until hitting another object making each move by the user crucial. This element is what separates Iceman from games such as Sokoban.

DX Version

In 2004, an enhanced remake of the title entitled Iceman DX replaced the original release on the S+F Software website. This remake boasted new graphics, modular level capabilities (seen through the re-release's extra level-set), and enhance gameplay. Unlike the original release of the game, this version uses and requires the user to have Microsoft's DirectX API installed.
