IF Brommapojkarna is a Swedish football club located in the borough of Bromma, in the western parts of Stockholm municipality. Brommapojkarna is the largest football club in Europe in terms of the number of active teams of all ages (in 2007 there were 247 teams and 3,000 players in different series). The club, formed in 1942, qualified for the highest division, Allsvenskan, for the first time on November 12th 2006, after beating BK Häcken in the play-offs. The women's team plays in one of the second divisions ("Div 2 Östra Svealand"), which is the third highest Swedish women's league level. The club is famous for its well-known youth academy, certainly one of the best in Europe with the various youth teams always competing at the highest level, both national and international. The club has produced numerous of top-quality Swedish player throughout the years, and there is sure more to come. Their current U18-side won the 2006 national championship in style, beating Malmö FF in the final, 0-4. Key players are striker Axel Johansson and midfield ace Albin Ekdal, both have been targeted by a number of big European clubs. The pair went to train with Chelsea FC, with the latter offered a contract but turned it down to be able to finish school and focusing on developing at Brommapojkarna. Both players have been promoted to the first-team and are currently preparing for the new season in the highest Swedish division, Allsvenskan. On April 6 , 2007, Brommapojkarna played their first game in Allsvenskan against Djurgården. 67 seconds into the game, forward Joakim Runnemo scored the first goal ever for Brommapojkarna, making it one of the fastest goal debuts for a newcomer team in Allsvenskan. The club has been affiliated with Manchester United, an agreement signed after Bojan Djordjics transfer to the Red Devils in 1999. However, it is now unclear whether they still are attached to the Old Trafford-based side. The club also has a floorball department.
