The International Corpus of English is actually a set of corpora representing various dialects of English from around the world. The areas with represented dialects currently include Great Britain, Hong Kong, Singapore, East India, and the Phillipines. Each corpus was created and is maintained by a different team, leading to some differences in the way the different corpora are put together. Each corpora contains one million words of spoken and/or written English. The dialects represented, with the exception of British, are what are referred to by Kachru as "Outer Circle" English [citation needed].
