Sir Hugh le Despenser (died 1238) was a wealthy land owner in the East Midlands of England, as well as High Sheriff of Berkshire. He held eleven manors in England: in Leicestershire, Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, and Rutland. His son was Hugh le Despencer, 1st Baron le Despencer and his descendants were the infamous Despensers that were favourites of Edward II.
