Herman Claudius van Riemsdijk is a Brazilian chess master. He was born on 26 August 1948 in Tiel, the Netherlands. He was Brazilian Champion in 1970, 1973, and 1988, and Pan American Champion in 1977. He was awarded the International Master title in 1978 and he is also an International Arbiter. He has written articles for several chess publications, and with Willem Diederik Hajenius he co-authored the book Final Countdown, a treatise on pawn endings.
