Herman Carl Andersen (January 27, 1897July 26, 1978) was a U.S. Representative from Minnesota; born in Newcastle, King County, Washington; moved with his parents to a farm near Tyler, Lincoln County, Minnesota, in 1901; attended the rural schools; attended the University of Washington and later the U.S. Naval Academy; engaged in cattle raising and agricultural pursuits 1919 – 1925 and as a civil engineer 1925 – 1930; resumed agricultural pursuits near Tyler, Minnesota, 1930 – 1938; member of the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1935; elected as a Republican to the 76th, 77th, 78th, 79th, 80th, 81st, 82nd, 83rd, 84th, 85th, 86th, and 87th congresses, (January 3, 1939January 3, 1963); unsuccessful candidate for renomination as an Independent in 1962 to the 88th congress; resided in Falls Church, Virginia; died in Arlington, Virginia, July 26, 1978; cremated; ashes interred in Danebod Lutheran Cemetery, Tyler, Minnesota.
