The South Yorkshire Railway Co. Ltd. (Not to be confused with The South Yorkshire Railway) was founded in 1989. It is a railway preservation society which specialises in the preservation of diesel shunters. It trades under the name Heritage Shunters Trust. The initials HST are probably a pun on High Speed Train (shunters being very low-speed machines). The locomotives are kept at Rowsley, Derbyshire on the site of preserved railway Peak Rail but the company is certainly a separate outfit. Preserved locomotives include:
- British Rail Class 01 No. D2953
Preserved D2953 on Peak Rail.
- British Rail Class 02 Nos. D2854 and D2866
- British Rail Class 03 Nos. 03099 and 03113
- British Rail Class 04 No. D2284
- British Rail Class 05 No. D2587
- British Rail Class 08 No. 08016
- British Rail Class 11 No. 12061
- British Rail Class 14 No. D9525
- British Rail Class 97/6 No. 97654
