Henry S. Noyes (December 22, 1822 - May 24, 1870) was a president of Northwestern University. Henry Sanborn Noyes was born in Vermont. He graduated from Wesleyan University in 1848, 9 years after Clark T. Hinman, the first president of Northwestern. After Hinman's departure from Newbury Seminary in Vermont in 1853, Noyes became principal. Noyes was one of the two original faculty members of the University when it opened in 1855 and served as professor of mathematics.
