The Rev'd Henry Chadwick, a distinguished historian of the early Church and a former Dean of Christ Church, Oxford (1969-1979). He is brother of the Reverend William Owen Chadwick, OM, KBE, FBA, FRSE. He is a former Master of Peterhouse, University of Cambridge, also a British professor, Fellow of The British Academy, honorary Doctor of Uppsala, Harvard, Yale and Chicago universities, corresponding member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, American Philosophical Society, Rhineland and Göttingen academies, and French Académie des Inscriptions et Belles Lettres. He is a writer and prominent theologian, and son of the late Sir John Chadwick, British High Commissioner to Australia. He has served as Regius Professor at both Oxford and Cambridge.
