Heera Lal Shastri was the first chief minister of Rajasthan, a large parochial state in northern India. He was chief minister of the state from 7 April 1949 to 5 January 1951. [1] On October 6, 1935 Pandit Heera Lal Shastri and Ratan Shastri founded Banasthali Vidyapith in memory of their daughter Shantabai[2].
