Have a Nice Day is Bon Jovi's ninth studio album. The album has sold 6,000,000 copies worldwide and has gone platinum in the USA and several other countries. The album was more successful than Bounce and is Bon Jovi's most successful album of the 2000's besides Crush. As of July 11, 2007, it has sold 1,453,039 copies in the US.^[1] Following the release of the album, the band went on a world tour to promote the album. The tour lasted from November 2005 to July 2006, playing 89 shows over North America, Japan and Europe.

Singles

The album produced the hit singles "Have A Nice Day" and "Who Says You Can't Go Home", as well as the internationally-released single "Welcome to Wherever You Are".

The album went to number one in 15 countries and was number one around the world for one week. It went to number two in the USA and UK. It went to number one in Australia.

2004 Pre-release

The new album that was to be Have A Nice Day was originally recorded in the summer of 2004, suposed ready for release for early 2005. However due to various reasons and debates by the band and its record company, the album was pushed back. The band were to write and record more songs and also removed some from the original track list, and in the process, altering existing album tracks. The pre-release version of the album contains a slightly different tracklist and includes alternate versions of songs that appeared on the final album. Some contain alternate lyrics and/or slightly different or additional arrangements.

Various tracks from the pre-released album have been leaked onto the Internet and copies of the entire pre-release album exist in circulation amongst traders. One notable track removed from the final Have A Nice Day album is Nothing. Many fans consider this song to be one of the best songs the band have ever written during the 2000's. It was suposedly cut from the album due to its similarity to "I Am", which remained on the album. American Idol 2005 runner-up Bo Bice later re-recorded the song, entitled Nothing Without You, for his debut album, The Real Thing. Another cut from the album was a duet version of Who Says You Can't Go Home with Keith Urban, supposedly because it was considered Jon Bon Jovi and Urban's voices were too similar, and therefore difficult to differentiate between. These Open Arms and Unbreakable were also removed from the original track list, but were later included as bonus tracks on the album in certain territories.

Bonus DVD: Live from Atlantic City

Alongside the standard edition of the album, a bonus edition was released which included a 5-track live DVD. The live footage was recorded during a concert in Atlantic City in November 2004 to promote the release of the box set 100,000,000 Bon Jovi Fans Can't Be Wrong. All of the songs on the DVD are from the box set with the exception of "Everyday", which is from Bounce:

• "These Open Arms" was released as a track for the Japan version, but it was released in the US to be sung by Clay Aiken on A Thousand Different Ways.
• No demo's from the Have A Nice Day sessions were released as b-sides on singles, nor tracks from the 2004 pre-release of the album. One song to be leaked on the Internet in late 2006 was "All That I Want", which was believed to be recorded by the band during these sessions due to it's sound and style, but was later found not to be a Bon Jovi song at all, but a song by Guest Band.
