Hammond School in Columbia, South Carolina, is a college preparatory day school enrolling boys and girls in Pre-K through 12th Grade. Hammond is located in a residential area in southeastern Columbia. Hammond School was founded as Hammond Academy in 1966 by a group of parents interested in developing a college preparatory school to serve the Columbia area. In 1989, the Board of Trustees changed the name to Hammond School and voted to adopt "a global focus" to prepare students for the "larger" world they will be entering as adults. The School is a nonprofit organization governed by a self-perpetuating Board of 22 Trustees including parents, alumni, and community leaders.
