Guelma (Arabic: قالمة) is the capital of Guelma Province (ولاية قالمة) in north-east Algeria, at about 40 kilometers from the coast. It was known as Calama in antiquity, was part of the Roman province of Numidia. Saint Possidius was bishop of Guelma during the fifth century.
