Grace Chin

Grace Chin aka The Chin is a fictional character from the ABC series Ugly Betty. She is played by actress Lucy Liu.

Background

Grace Chin went to college with Daniel Meade, and both graduated in 1995. She was stood up by Daniel on a date they had made for New Year's Eve; Grace, upset over this, wound up playing Wolfenstein by herself that night. She later becomes the hottest and most successful lawyer in New York and is asked by Daniel to represent his father, Bradford Meade, in his trial. She refuses at first to get back at Daniel for standing her up, but later takes the case after making him call all the women he treated badly (Daniel instead fools her and calls Becks). She then sleeps with him. Later that night Grace mentioned that a car was at the scene of Fey Sommers' accident, which turned out to be the description of a vehicle driven by Daniel's mother Claire Meade. But it would all come to an end in the episode Icing on the Cake. As Daniel tried to keep Alexis from finding out about Grace, Grace in turn told Daniel that she can help Claire get a lighter sentence because Claire had felt threatened by Fey. But thanks to Wilhelmina Slater, who enlisted Marc to get photos on the two, Alexis, who had Bradford framed for Fey's murder, accused Daniel of hiring her after seeing a CD of the two kissing at a restaurant. Alexis was threatening Grace by going to a judge and expose her if she didn't excuse herself from the case; Daniel in turn blamed Alexis because Grace was going to help Claire after he told Alexis that it was their mother who murdered Fey Sommers. Unfortunately the damage was done as Grace did remove herself from the case, causing another rift in the Meade family after Claire's arrest, and in the process, gave Wilhelmina a scheming victory.
