Geography
Gordon is located at (32.544121, -98.365978)GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.5 km²), all of it land.
Demographics
As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 451 people, 190 households, and 128 families residing in the city. The population density was 467.2 people per square mile (179.5/km²). There were 228 housing units at an average density of 236.2/sq mi (90.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.23% White, 1.11% Native American, 0.44% Pacific Islander, 1.11% from other races, and 1.11% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.10% of the population. There were 190 households out of which 28.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.9% were married couples living together, 8.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.6% were non-families. 30.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 22.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.93. In the city the population was spread out with 25.9% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 22.2% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 20.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 79.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.5 males. The median income for a household in the city was $33,056, and the median income for a family was $41,750. Males had a median income of $40,156 versus $20,781 for females. The per capita income for the city was $18,307. About 8.1% of families and 13.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 21.4% of those under age 18 and 15.3% of those age 65 or over.
