Glenn Ross (born 27 May 1971 in County Down, Northern Ireland) is a British International Strongman and Powerlifter who has represented Ireland and the UK in three World's Strongest Man competitions and various World Grand Prix and European Team competitions.
Strongman career
Ross won Britain’s Strongest Man competition in 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2006. In 2003, Ross lifted three cars with the rear wheels completely off the ground, the combined weight including the frames of the three Citroen Saxos was almost 3 tonnes. This was in aid of Cancer Research. He has competed in the World's Strongest Man competition on five occasions. Ross holds many Strongman records:
- Giant Log - 115 kg - 19 reps
- Steel Log - 300 mm diameter - 175 kg max - 12 reps

- Held a 1400 kg BMW car - 76 s
- Held up 2 Citroen Saxos from the back combined weight 1700 kg for 1 min 7 s
- Deadlift - Lifted 430 kg (WR: 455 kg) 2006 UK strongest man
Glenn's usual catchphrase during strongman competitions is "Yea, c'ummon, Who's the daddy?!!".
Size
Although he is only 6'1" (1.85 m), he weighs a staggering 480 lb (34 stone, 216 kg) making him one of the heaviest strongmen in the world. His colossal frame is emphasized by his body measurements; his neck is 24 inches, his biceps 24½ inches, his chest is 63 inches and his thighs are 35 inches, as well as a 50 inch waist. His huge size often gives him an advantage in many of the events. For example in the Atlas Stones he often uses his huge stomach to rest the large stones on as he attempts to get them up. Due to his weight he often tires easily and in some events he has fallen to the ground possibly as a result of exhaustion. Photos have been shown of Ross seemingly collapsed but actually expressing his joy and jubilation at having completed the Atlas Stone event at a World's Strongest Man heat, giving himself a chance to secure a place in the finals, and inspiring him to literally kiss the ground in gratitude. Unfortunately his hopes were dashed when the scores were tallied and he was denied his finals position.
Personal
Ross has appeared on several TV shows, including Kelly Show, They Think it's All Over, the John Daley Show, Harry Hill's TV Burp and Celebrity Big Brother's Big Mouth. Ross works as a bouncer in County Down when he is not training. Ross is married with two children.
