Garth Stirling Le Roux (b. 4 September, 1955) in Kenilworth, Cape Town was a South African fast bowler who played 15 unofficial Tests for South Africa in the 1980's. A big and powerful fast bowler, he had a lethal bouncer. Unfortunately though for him his career took part during the time that South Africa were barred from international cricket. He played some World Series Cricket in the late 70's and later played 15 "Tests" back home against rebel touring sides. He performed well taking 59 wickets at 23.06. Le Roux also had a successful county career with Sussex from 1978 to 1987. In 1981 he took 81 wickets which almost led them to their maiden Championship. In South Africa he played for Western Province, taking 372 wickets at under 19. He was also a big hitting tailend batsman and he made 26 50's in his career. Le Roux retired after the 1988/89 season and finished his with 838 wickets in First Class cricket at 21.24. On the 10th of April 2006 he appeared in Court charged with 48 counts of tax fraud involving R1.8 million. [1]
