Götz Briefs (b. January 1, 1889, in Eschweiler d. May 16, 1974, in Rome) was a Catholic social theorist, social ethicist, social philosopher and political economist.

He published approximately 350 scientific articles. His training and work brought him to Munich, Bonn, Freiburg im Breisgau, London, Gießen, Würzburg, Berlin, Vienna, Salzburg, Bern and Spain. In Freiburg, he became a member of K.D.St. V. Wildenstein Freiburg im Breisgau, a Catholic student fraternity that belong to the Cartellverband der katholischen deutschen Studentenverbindungen. In 1934 he emigrated to the USA and became a guest professor at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. With Theodor Brauer, Gustav Gundlach, Paul Jostock, Franz H. Mueller, Heinrich Rommen and Oswald von Nell-Breuning he was a member of the "Königswinter Circle" at the Königswinter "Institute for society and Economic". The road "Götz-Briefs-Weg" in his hometown was named after him in 1989.
